2010 Board

I am originally from a small lead mining community south of St. Louis, Missouri (Go Cards!).  I graduated from Rocky Mountain College in Billings, Montana with a degree in Geology in 1996.  After college, I migrated to Ocala and began work in the geotechnical engineering field.  I am currently employed at Andreyev Engineering, Inc. as a project manager on sinkhole analyses, environmental assessments, and new construction projects.  If it has to do with dirt, then I am your man.  I joined the Jaycees in 2007 on the advice of my boss and quickly realized all that the Jaycees have to offer.  Initially I believed that I would maybe help out with a couple of community service projects and that would be all. However, after attending my first state conference and getting to meet all of these new people with common interests and experiences, I decided I wanted to take on a larger role in the chapter.  I served on the 2008 executive board as Business Vice President where I was named outstanding local vice president in the state of Florida.  The Jaycees organization has changed my life and my only wish is that my boss had told me about it sooner.

Hello, my name is David Lacob. I am the 2010 Business Vice President for the Ocala Jaycees. I became a member of the Ocala Jaycees in 2008, along with my wife Wendy. We joined the Jaycees after assisting with the 2007 Children’s Shopping Tour. Last year I served as the Community Vice Presiden. During my short time with the Jaycees I have assisted in all our major projects that our chapter has held. My favorite project has to be the Children’s Shopping Tour. I really enjoy being able to take the less fortunate children shopping. For alot of these children, they would not recive any presents if it wasn’t for the Shopping Tour. I look forward to serving the members of the Ocala Jaycees and our community this upcoming year.

My name is Wendy Lacob. I am the 2010 International Vice President for the Ocala Jaycees. My Jaycees experience began in 2008 when I moved to Ocala from the south Florida area. It was a great way for my husband, David Lacoband I to get to know the area and meet new people.

One of my favorite projects is our Haunted House. Each year we put in alot of hard work in planning, building, decorating and running the house. Each weekend in October is dedicated to putting on the most terrifying experience we can give our guests. Our hardwork is rewarded when the majority of the proceeds are used for the annual Christmas Shooping Tour.

I first became involved with the Jaycees thru my sister and her husband back in 2003. My sister asked me to help out with the Christmas shopping tour and although I was busy being a stay at home Mom with two girls, my youngest being not quite 2 , I told her I would do what I could to help her . As I became more involved with the project and with the Jaycees, I was hooked! I went on to chair the Christmas shopping tour the next year. In 2005 I moved out of state and when I returned to Ocala in 2009, I picked up where I had left off, but this time with more drive and passion to really make a difference in the community where I was raising my two girls.

The friends I have made in the Jaycees have become a real part of life, they are my family. I just recently attended my first state conference and I met so many new friends and I am so proud to have won the 2009 Speak up competion, and I am  very honored to represent Florida at the 2010 Speak up competion in New Orleans in June!

For me being a Jaycee is a great way for me to show my daughters they Can make a difference, one project at a time!! and that service to Humanity is the BEST work of LIFE!!!!!
